Against the backdrop of a world confronted with unprecedented challenges including the migrants and refugee crisis, outbreak of disease, climate change and financial instability, representatives of 172 Member States of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) gather in Rome on 17-18 February to share views and experiences related to boosting investments in smallholder agriculture to achieve the Global Goals. Sergio Mattarella, the President of the Italian Republic will be a keynote speaker at the opening session of 39th session of IFAD's Governing Council.
